“I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:14-17
As I monitor current/world events I find myself becoming a bit agitated, or feeling vexed. I’m frustrated most by the fact that, generally speaking, evil is not being contested. I liken my feelings to those feelings felt by Lot in Sodom and Gomorrha. (read 2 Peter 2:7-8)
“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:” 2 Peter 2:4-9
And, I’ll be honest with you, it’s getting more difficult by the day. So now, determined to be a vessel by which the voice of truth can speak freely, I am feverishly trying to learn how to communicate in love (meaning I am desperately trying to learn how to remain rooted and grounded in love as I communicate, AT ALL TIMES). For I know that, doing so, pleases GOD!
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Ephesians 4:15
“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10
As you may know, it isn’t easy to dwell in love as you’re experiencing undesirable emotions. In fact, without the Holy Ghost, it’s impossible. But through the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can do all things!
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
With that being said, I will make every effort to speak on this subject without conveying the undertone of anger that I most certainly feel. But, I give you fair warning; it’s there. In fact, if it weren’t there I may not have been as motivated to speak.
As Christians, we are beyond the earthly. Therefore, we are beyond the earthly, cultural lines that divide the masses. WE ARE SPIRITUAL.
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-16
“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?” 1 Corinthians 3:1-4
I am a brown-skinned, African-American woman. My day to day experiences/how I’ve been treated by others/experienced this life has been determined, in large part, by the color/shade of my skin. Now, I currently reside in (and was born and raised in) the South. Needless to say, I do/have experienced race-hatred nearly every single day of my entire life. Being hated for being born in the beautiful skin that the good LORD saw fit to give me is unfathomable, unreasonable and uncouth.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
A BIG part of my being transformed from death to life has been unbelieving the lies that the enemy convinced me to believe about myself as a brown-skinned, African-American woman and believing/knowing the truth about myself as a brown-skinned, African-American woman. For us (brown skinned individuals of African descent) this step in the process of transformation is vitally important. As children of GOD we all have the right to undergo this life-changing, eye-opening, burden-lifting experience. It’s understandable that as an ethnic group of people who have been (and whose culture has been) publicly shamed, ostracized, marginalized and oppressed for so long we would take pleasure and enjoyment in the unified public celebration of our culture. But we, as Christians, can not/must not isolate ourselves from our European-American brethren. We (all of us) should not define ourselves by that which is temporal;the carnal. It’s more to life than race, gender and geography! Regardless of our nationality, our gender, or our race; WE ARE ONE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:26-29
Every extra (or unnecessary) moment that we spend bickering back and forth with a Trump-loving Republican is a moment that we take away from singing the praises of our wonderful and worthy, faithful and forgiving, tried and true, Heavenly Father, GOD. Not to mention the fact, that these people literally (spiritually) feed on the harsh reactions that they so skillfully seek to garner from their unsuspecting victims. They aren’t ignorant of the effect of their evil words. They intend to distract from the goodness of GOD! Don’t let them!
There are various earthly cultures and each and every one of them leave much to be desired. Earthly cultures can’t save! Fellow brethren, we are not earthly! We are Heavenly! This generation, this way of living, this mode of operating is simply beneath us! Let us rise above it ALL and ascend to our rightful place and position, seated in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus!
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” Ephesians 2:6
